Academic Staffs Union Of Universities (ASUU) declares and indifinite nation wide strike with immediate effect as it told all its academic staffs  to withdraw from activities immediately. ASUU president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said the strike will be total and commence with immediate effect. As it was announced at the end of an emergency meeting held on Sunday 4th November 2018 with its National Executive Council (NEC) held at Federal University Of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State, briefing newsmen about the closed door meeting. Their reasons for the strike were also stated as follws;
   Firstly Failure on the govenrment to honour memorandum of action signed between the union and the Government in 2017.
  Secondly Renegotiate with ASUU of which government intentionally ignored with impunity.
